80-year-old El Centro man goes for the gold

For Arnold Ray, running is life.
An alumnus of Brawley Union High School, Ray competed and excelled in the track events and would later go on to similar fanfare as part of an eight-man squad for El Centro Junior College.
Most recently, he won four gold medals in the long jump and sprinting events of 50, 100 and 200 meters at the Senior Olympics at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. What makes this so special, you ask?
It could be because Arnold Ray is 80 years old.
Where most people his age are getting around by walker and motorized golf cart, maybe even by wheelchair, Ray has no problem making it to an aerobics class, not every once in awhile, but routinely. He works out five nights a week, Sunday through Wednesday, with a day off on Thursday, then back on Friday, with Saturday to recuperate.
