I’m honored to share my story with you. I started my athletic journey in 2009 at age 56. I realized it was “use it or lose it” time and I joined a charity running team. 6 months later I ran the Phoenix Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in 6:19. I had a blast, I was exhausted, but couldn’t wait for the next one. I ran 4 marathons, countless half-marathons, 10ks, obstacle races culminating with the New York City Marathon in 2016. Unfortunately, I incurred a foot overuse injury in 2014, so training became challenging, and to be honest, a bit boring. Also, in 2014 I discovered the fitness regimen of CrossFit, and I’ve never looked back. I embraced the challenge of “constantly varied, high intensity, functional movements”. I picked up my first barbell in early 2015. By 2018 I had become a certified CrossFit L-1 Trainer, with a specialty in the masters (mature!) population. I love, love, with a passion, sharing what I have learned, with everyone, helping them become less sedentary, healthier, happier and more confident. To be able to stay independent longer is the best gift I can give myself and others, and CrossFit can get us there. Also, in 2018 I participated in the San Diego Senior Games Fitness event. I had the most amazing time competing and hanging out with “my people.”
