I hope this finds you and your family doing well.
As you know, for the past several months, we’ve been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic, keeping in touch with the CDC, government officials, the NSGA, and numerous other organizations.
After spending hours of deliberation weighing the pros and cons of every possible scenario, the San Diego Senior Games Association Board of Directors has decided to cancel this year’s 2020 California Senior State Championships.
This was certainly not an easy decision to make, but given the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe this is in the best interest of our athletes, partners, and volunteers.
Due to the high number of Senior Games that have been forced to cancel due to COVID-19, the NSGA has created an Adjusted Qualification Process for the 2021 National Senior Games (being held in Ft Lauderdale, Florida).
The adjusted process will allow athletes who participated in previous National Senior Games and new athletes to qualify for the 2021 National Senior Games, without needing to participate in an official qualifying event.
MORE FUN AND COMPETITION AHEAD
Though we’ll miss seeing you at this year’s qualifying games (due to their cancellation), we will look forward to seeing you at Nationals next year.
We hope you are already planning to join us for the 2021 San Diego Senior Games, as well. I’m sure we’ll be coming back with a bang!
In addition, we are also planning to host other sports, health, and fitness events throughout the remainder of this year.
We’ll let you know about our new events as they come up (virtual and otherwise).
In the meantime, we invite you to share any specific topics you would like to learn more about, or events you would be interested in attending.
Above all, we want to THANK YOU for being such an important part of the San Diego Senior Games.
Stay strong, stay safe, and we’ll stay in touch!

P.S. There is also still a chance the Encore Games in the Bay Area will continue as scheduled. You can visit the California Senior Games Association website to learn the latest news.
